Parade Permit Application

Parades are a time to honor and celebrate.

1 If the parade is designated to be held by, on behalf of, or for any person other than the applicant, the applicant for such permit shall file with the City Clerk a communication in writing from the person proposing to hold the parade, authorizing the applicant to apply for the permit on his or her behalf.

If you are serving any food at the event, please contact Community Planning/Services (913-895-6270) at least two weeks prior to the event.

Emergency Medical Services
Completion of this Event Permit form does not automatically initiate or assume Emergency Medical Services (EMS) coverage. To secure EMS Coverage please contact the Overland Park Fire Department at 913-888-6066 specifically requesting the EMS stand-by scheduling manager. Cost for stand-by coverage are size and scope dependant and staffing requirements are determined for the specific event by the OPFD EMS Chief. If the event coordinator chooses to utilize a private provider
for medical stand-by, a medical plan must be submitted and approved by the Overland Park Fire Department prior to the event.

O.P.M.C. 7.08.001 – 7.08.003
*** This event is exempted from the requirements of O.P.M.C. 7.08.001 – 7.08.003. If at any time during the course of this event you are notified by an Overland Park Police Officer or other person designated as a commissioned City Officer that the sound generated by the event is creating a Public Disturbance, the sound shall be lowered so as not to create such a disturbance. If the Public Disturbance continues, the noise exemption is terminated and the sounds generated by the event are subject to the provisions of and prosecution under O.P.M.C. 7.08.001 – 7.08.003. For purposes of this permit, a Public Disturbance is defined as sound that unreasonably disturbs or interferes with the peace, comfort and repose of others. The Overland Park Police Officer or other person designated, as a commissioned City Officer shall make the determination as to whether a Public Disturbance is occurring based upon reasonable complaints and his or her reasonable conclusion after investigating those complaints. The exemption is terminated upon notification of such termination to the holder of the permit at the location of the event.

I do hereby request that the Chief of Police issue a parade permit pursuant to the guidelines established in O.P.M.C. Chapter 12.16. I have read the provisions of the O.P.M.C. Chapter 12.16, and agree to abide by them. I understand that if I fail to comply with any provisions of O.P.M.C. Chapter 12.16 or the conditions set forth in the parade permit, the parade permit may be revoked and the parade activity terminated.
